I've heard that taking alfalfa helps pollen allergies.

Sinuses, well, have you seen an ear/nose/throat doctor to check it out? Sometimes they can help brainstorm what's going on.

My dh had a deviated septum so they did some work on that. Then later he discovered he has sleep apnea. Since he's started wearing the mask at night it seems his nasal problems have diminished greatly.

We've since learned that an awful lot of people have sleep apnea and don't know it. It can cause lots of problems.

Some react to milk which is mucus-forming.

Wish I could be of more help. Hope things improve for you soon.

The honey remedy is a very good one, but try to make sure it is LOCAL honey. That way you become immune to the pollens which occur whereyou live. If you're allergic to the pollen of a plant that grows on the east coast, it won't help to eat honey produced on the west coast where that plant doesn't occur! This remedy is specifically for pollen allergies, of course, not for other things. One teaspoon of the honey 3 times a day is the usual recommended dosage.

It will help to be properly tested by an immunologist to find the actual cause(s) of your allergies. Then you can take steps to avoid those things.

Remember that individuals vary in their reactions. It is entirely possible that some people could be allergic to anything mentioned below as a remedy! Unfortunately, there's only one way to find out (aside from the immunological testing of course)!

Here are some general remedies for allergies:

Take 1/4 teaspoon Horseradish daily until the symptoms of your allergy subside. Thereafter, you need only a few teaspoons of Horseradish each month to prevent another allergy attack.

Take a cup of Stinging Nettle tea to relieve symptoms of allergies.

Massage skin allergies with Chamomile oil.

Take a cup of Feverfew tea, or eat 2-3 leaves between slices of bread, to relieve symptoms of allergies.

To build up resistance to allergies, diet is important. Avoid dairy products, sugar, and refined foods.

Drink 1/2 cup Celery juice for several days to alleviate allergic reactions.

If allergic to wool, increase consumption of foods containing magnesium or take magnesium supplements.

To reduce susceptibility to allergies, eat plenty of foods containing Vitamins A, C, B12 and E, or take supplements of these vitamins. Taking supplements of pantothenic acid, L-histidine and Flaxseed (Linseed) oil can also help.

Make a tea of Goldenseal or Eyebright. Strain, put the cooled tea in a dropper bottle. Use this as an eyewash to reduce the burning, watering, and the inflammation caused by many allergies.

When afflicted with an allergic reaction, eat a handful of Parsley every day, or drink the juice made from it.

If affected by cat allergens, spray the cat once a week with a weak Peppermint tea; leave it on to dry without rubbing it in. In addition, drink tea made from any of the following: Coltsfoot, Comfrey, Horehound, Mullein.

Place 15g Chamomile flowers in a 1-litre jar. Fill two thirds of the jar with boiling water. Add 3-5 drops of essential oil of Thyme. Cover and let cool for half an hour. Open the lid and inhale the fumes, taking a few deep breaths. Repeat as desired throughout the day.

Tea made from the leaves of the Baobab Tree taken as required, acts as an antihistamine.

Drink a tea made from the berries or flowers of Elder. This is also good for Hay Fever.

Drink an infusion of Wild Thyme.

Drink a cup of Nettle or Sage tea.

Chew peeled Garlic cloves or take Garlic capsules.

Drink a tea made from the whole plant (including root) of Liquorice. Do not use Liquorice if suffering from high blood pressure.

Drink a decoction of the dried rhizome of Echinacea daily to boost the immune system. Echinacea is available in commercial products.

Drink a tea made from Yarrow flowers as required to relieve catarrh associated with allergies.

Cut Orange peels into strips and soak in Apple cider vinegar for several hours. Drain. Cook down in honey until soft. Keep in the fridge and eat one as required.

I have been using a homeopathic remedy call sambacus for sinus/allergy problems. It is made by Weleda.

It is 40 per-cent alcohol, and let me tell you- it burns while it drains your sinuses. The sever my problem, the more intense the burning!

Sometimes I can feel clumps draining that I could not imagine even being in my sinus cavities.

Has anybody used the Neti pot? The little "rinse out your sinuses" thing? I've read some about it and it sounds like a good thing. Thanks for all the above info! Wonderful!

Hot Toddy without the alcohol

Found this on the internet and have used it whenever I've woken up with stuffed sinuses:

Mix together into a small pan:

1 cup tomato juice
1 tsp minced clove garlic
1 tsp lemon juice
1 and 1/2 tsp tabasco sauce

Heat this up and sip hot.

Works wonders and keeps for some time in the refrigerator.
Plan to make up a batch and make ice cubes of them to take out as needed.

Also sipping on apple cider vinegar cuts thick throat mucous wonderfully.
(This I sip in micro teaspoonfuls and it still works well! )
