Ken's Hickory Cane Corn

It looks like Ken Scharabok's Hickory Cane Corn has finally produced for me.
I am uncertain about how to dry it out in preparation for returning the ears that I promised to send. Should I pick, shuck it and set it aside or just leave it outside on the stalk until this fall? (Raccoon and Deer risk there.)

you want it to be completely dry before you store it or it will mold. I saved some of the field corn grown on the field next to me last year but just picked up missed ears when they harvested so it was dry. I left it in it's shucks and stored it in the veg bin of the fridge. came up just fine this summer.

You can also cut the stalks and hang them (upside down if possible) in a dry place to finish drying. I only need the kernels back, not whole ears. I have a stack of unfilled requests about 12" high.

Drying Corn

So, how long should it take for the kernels to dry out enought to come off the cob?

Essentially when they will come off relatively easy with your hands.
