Guinea pig problems

I didn't know where else to post this, but I have a GP that has a bad rash that's bleeding on his shoulder...not mites, not ringworm, anyone know what it could be?

I've had guinea pigs get mites and scratch til they bleed. Frontline plus works well on them. Just put about 1/4 of a cc (3 or 4 drops) between their shoulder blades. Maybe put some triple antibiotic ointment (Neosporin) on the bleeding spots.

Thanks, Hovey, but the vet I went to gave them Ivermectin shots. Hope it works.

Ivermectic works wonders for these guys. 0.01cc per pound...but you didn't hear that from me, I'm not a vet.

You might enjoy this site on medical problems and help with those cute little Cavies.

We used to see quite a few of them with lice and mites.
Hope all is well now.

Ivermectin works great, but most people don't have access to injectable drugs, so I usually recommend over the counter drugs first.
