A thing in the yard

There's this thing in the yard.
It's on the side of the house and it's made out of concrete blocks, it's about 4' x 6', I think hubby said it was a well house.
Anyway all four sides have blocks - I'd thought about maybe trying to make it into a barbecue grill (?) until I saw that.

Do any of you have one in your yards, and what have you done with it?

Right now, I have morning glories planted in front of it, they're starting to come up and I'm going to make a trellis for them to climb....that will hopefully conceal it but what else could I do with it?

Could it be a cistern? They were used to collect rain water, or just filled by truck for household use. You could put potted plants on it, or build a little shed on it to hold lawn chairs and such. I wouldn't turn it into a grill, too close to the house.

Sounds like a septic tank. Or the remains of one.

Bored wells are common in the SE. The wells have a concrete liner, about 2 ft. in diameter. It was customary to build a small shed around the well, most are built of concrete block. I have one in my yard. Only the walls are left, as the roof has rotted. I would carefully search within the confines of the walls for a well of some sort. If it is filled, all is ok. If it is open, and insufficiently covered, it can be a danger. Ask an old-timer neighbor what it might be.

BTW, I intend to run my gutters into the well, and use the water for irrigation. All the pipes are sound, it just needs a new pump.

Hubby knows what it is, I think there is a cistern or was one in our yard. There is a little sunken-in spot and hubby said that that meant there is a cistern there.

Plant flowers around it, do not set it on fire. Hubby already has his hands full

Yes, I've had guinea pigs before when we lived in town. Had to keep them in the house in a cage. Why?
