Anyone in the Houston TX area (NE side preferred)......

Anyone need some homesteading help next year in Feb/Mar/April in exchange for a place to camp to practice our homesteading skills BEFORE we make our move to the MO ozarks??? I have a hardworking 17 yo son to barter!! And my other two children and I are very capable as well!!!!

DH would continue to work daily at his current job (which is why the NE side is preferred) I am uncomfortable with most of the local "campgrounds" as they are run individually and attract all sorts of deviants.... Our first location and plan is falling through due to an impending divorce - We will need anywhere from 1 - 3 months camping time.... and I am hoping for "likeminded" people!!!

The kids and I are hoping to "practice" homesteading skills and hone the daily living skills required to camp for extended periods of time while we still are in a safe location BEFORE we move to our new adventure!! We homeschool so that wouldn't be an issue, and we have neighbor and landlord references to give.......

If there is no work to be bartered for camping space, we are willing to pay a nominal fee to camp.... No electricity or water is needed at the site... (our new homestead won't have it for the time we camp either so we need to get used to it)

If you know of anyone or can recommend someone, I would greatly appreciate it.... Any questions, PM me....

(I put this on the barter board as well, hoping more people would see it here!!)

Thanks!

I just bought Ten acres up around Crockett, out 21 from Madisonville. I plan on going up on weekends to clear and build fence. Its 99% wooded and lots of work to do. I will close in a couple weeks on it. Perhaps we can talk and see if it may be what you have in mind. PM me and I will give you my cell # and we can talk.

Soon to be out of the rat race.....

Hi Jon!! Thats terrific that you are going to be getting outta here real soon!! Your place sounds awesome!!!

I appreciate your interest in our situation, but Crockett is about 3 hours from DH work and I know he won't want to make that commute each day!! We are hoping for somethign alittle more local (up to 45 minutes) would be ok, but not much more... DH hates traffic and I don't blame him!!!

Thanks again!

HMMMMM!!! Extra hands around during kidding season!????!!! That does sound tempting! We are up in Cleveland (59) in the National Forest, you cold pick pasture or deep woods. Not alot of work to do in Feb, it's our months of rest time, but come March with all the does kidding, and then April...barn cleaning time! Yep free farm hands does sound mighty tempting! Vicki
