2005 WA County Poll

Okay, this will be an open poll, so we can all see who is where, and then we can figure out where to have a picnic this summer.

Oh, jeez! I forgot Mason County! :waa: I wish there was some way to edit the poll once it goes up...I screwed up the last choice of East of the Columbia River, too.

Okay, Masonic people, I guess you'll have to choose whichever other option you are closest to (Kitsap etc or Thurston etc).

Crashy -- I was looking at an old Atlas from WWII, and I plumb missed Clark Co -- the letters were smaller than other counties. I was trying to bunch counties together regionally with a view to transportation...Please don't secede to Oregon!
I think Skamania etc will do for the purposes of this census.

Well, even though I am right now in King couty, I put down Jefferson cause that's where our homestead land is and we spend a bunch of time there. Kitsap is right in the middle, so that works for me as well!

Only if you bring something really yummy to the picnic and don't whine about paying sales tax while you're in the state! :haha:

So far, it is looking like somewhere in King or Snohomish would be the most central place to hold a shindig. Clallam, Jefferson and most Kitsap folk would scoot across on the Kingston or other ferries. And people south of Tacoma and from the ocean and the Oregon border counties would just come north once they got to I-5. People east of the mountains would have a long drive, but then, they have a long drive to get anywhere, and so far they only constitute 23% of respondents. The other 77% are split evenly between north of King and south of King.

Question is, do we choose the place most central and force everyone to drive, or do we choose a place (either south or north on the I-5 corridor) so that at least 38% of the people don't have to drive much at all but make the other 38% drive extra far? It's a quandary.

Of course, we could wait to see if anyone offer's their one place for a venue...

Such a quandry...but look at it this way~carpooling will be easier for those areas with lots of folks. I'm wondering about those from the eastern side, will they still make the drive if we're too far south? (Not that I'm looking for a reason to go to Ellensburg...no, not at all!)

Here's another vote from Cowlitz County. Miz Mary, wanna carpool?

I do have Cowlitz County Fair the first part of the month, and I have to be close enough to the party to make it back for milking, but if it works out with my work/fair/milking schedule, I want to come.

2005 wa county poll

i'd love to have folks come to our place (just outside granite falls, ne of everett). there's a river for swimming and lots of camping space for "overnighters". we could have one heck of "get acquainted" picnic! do y'all know about the washington homesteaders site? hope to see you here or elsewhere sometime this century!

Hey all;
I'm over here in Skamania county. In the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Lots of places to camp up here. Great fishing and hiking!
Would LOVE to have you guys over!

magdabauer, how's the access from the eastern side?

Here's a link to a map for those of you who'd like to see where Granite Falls is:

Magdabauer, that's so generous! I've been through Granite Falls many times on my way to trailheads - it's just a gorgeous place.

What do you eastsiders think? Are you willing to get through the traffic in the Seattle area, or should we look for somplace near Ellensburg (which I think is about as central as it's possible to get)?
