Homemade Porch

I grew up with an open, south facing porch, so that was one of the things I have wanted. My handy-dandy husband is almost done with it. He sawed his own lumber using the chainsaw with one of those attachment thingies (technical term). I thought I would share this with others who like to do things themselves.

It is a shame how pourches have became obsolete, my Grandpa has a pourch, with a chain hung swing, thanks to AC and T.V people don't really need a front pourch anymore.

JAS that is so nice. I'm so much a porch person. I keep saying I want a BIG porch with a small house attaached with a BIG sewing room.

Congratulations on your hubby that can build something like that!

Yes, I remember watching rain and tornadoes when I was young and running out after a hail storm, bare-foot, to pick up the hail. I love open porches and could never understand people enclosing them. We already spend a lot of time out there, the kids love it

Hi Jas;
Love your porch! Hubby did a GREAT job! Your house looks alot like mine. Our home is 24' x 32' with an enclosed side porch on the same side as yours and we also have the same block chimney. We have a tin top, which I love. (I love th sound of rain on it. ) We built the main part of thehouse back in 1982, after we cleared the land for the small area it required. The front porch was added 3 years later and the side porch about 10 years later. I know that you'll love and enjoy the porch, I spend my evenings in an old rocker on mine watching the hummingbirds at the feeders and looking at my hanging baskets, which are full of flowers in bloom. A porch is a little bit of heaven. ENJOY!
Have a blessed day!
