West Texas Land

Does anyone have any information for some cheap land in West Texas? We are looking for 5 to 10 acres. I had found a site where the land was real reasonable but lost the address to it. It was a subdivision way out west and had community water, sounded pretty good.

I know there is no jobs out there, but that is no problem. My husband is on SS and I do drive-aways out of Indiana. All we need is water and electricity. Thanks in advance.

West Texas Land

Ruby, land out there is rough, rugged, full of rattle snakes. But check out ebay they have land there listed. You might like our area better. We bought our land cheap. Milam county isn't that developed so land can still be found. Last month 11 acres went for $18,000 with barn, mobile home, water and electricity already there. Good luck...Sky

My mom and dad live in the area above Amarillo in a little town called Channing.

it's west of Dumas and south of Dallahard. I think there is land out there, and there is "city" water and electricity. Lots of open spaces....

The gathering place is the Merchantile in Channing TX, I think you could google the phone number.

Or if you are interested, let me know and I'll ask my parents for the phone number to someone that could help with land out there.

If you like the desert you might check out Terlingua Ranch. There are always several 20 acre tracts for sale. It's a scenic area. They do have homeowners fees though.

I used to have some land in nearby Lajitas. Interesting place. More Mexicans than needed.

Pam... I don't blame you I hated the Houston area. We are central Texas sorta east. Between Austin, Temple and Bryan. Beautiful area. Cameron is county seat. Local newspapers...Cameron Herald and Rockdale Reporter..do a search for urls. Between Cameron, Rockdale and Milano bargains are still to be found. Austin is an hour drive....come on there is room. Lol. Sky

Call and check with the Chamber of Commerce in Van Horn Texas..
Van Horn is about 150 miles East of El Paso... and is a cross roads for a lot of the hiways heading west.

Also check out Sierra Blanca, which is another 40 miles west of Van Horn... I know they have just built an INS Prision there, as well as a brand new Border Patrol Facility.

Both of these areas are desert.. very near the Mexican Border... also alot of their income is based on tourism and hunting...

Also, Odessa, which depends mostly on Oil for its economic base, has land fairly cheap.. again this is a desert area..

Chamber of Commerce is a great place to start, as well as the tax rolls for the area, watch for tax sales.

Anyways, I hope that Helps
