Inanimate objects known as a SHE.
Why do they call things she?
I heard a Bruce Springstine song that said
"I checked the furnace, boy. but she weren't burning. I started the car, but she weren't turning.
Do you own a she thing, and does she have a name?

Interesting discussion. Our English language doesn't really follow this much, but other languages have feminine words and masculine words.

Usualy anything belonging to a man is refered to as she, out of affection most always.

I have two Turkey Decoys I named one after my Ex Wife and the other after my Mother in Law,just in case someone shoots them :haha:

when my daughter was little she said that cars w/ round headlights were female and cars w/ square headlights were male. She named our family station wagon 'Mellie.

Actually I just learned to drive a stick 3 years ago. I love the stick. (hmmmm)
...and the stick shift too.

I remember when taking German, they had masculine, feminine, and neuter. However it wasnt logic that dictated which were which like you would think. Inanimate objects could be any of the three. Meant not only learning a German noun, but also memorizing whether it was m,f,n.

my first pickup was male (Jack), my first motorcycle was female (Molly), my current pickup is male (Tank) and my newest motorcycle is female but has a sidecar that is inanimate so i just refer the conglomerate as "The Rig". when she's running out of gas or is having a hard time idling on a cold day, i always call her "baby", though...

Only my vehicles are named...
My first car was a total beater that I called "The Beast" or "The Mighty Eurosport." So I guess that's masculine. An 85 Chev Celebrity Eurosport that had more rust than solid metal, and more things that didn't work than did. But it ran, and never failed to get me from point A to point B, and I loved that car to pieces - literally. When Dad finally hauled it to the junkyard, it broke in half! I was mad at Dad - there was "nothing" wrong with that car - it still ran! :waa: I miss that car. Loved it for it's "quirks."
My next car, a 92 Lumina Z34, quickly became a female. Moody. When she's happy, I love her. When she's not happy, look out! Hence her nickname, "The B***h." :yeeha:
Finally, my truck. Definitely a male. I named him "Blackjack" or more often, just "Jack" after my dad. Dad had a black 69 Chev 350 that I loved when I was little. When I came of driving age, I begged dad to give it to me. But it had a lot of problems, and he told me I didn't want it. So when I finally got my own truck - a black Chevy, I named it after Dad. I'm still trying to convince him to give me the old truck...
BTW, all of these vehicles have been automatics... :haha:
