question about brewer's yeast

Is brewer's yeast used for anything besides brewing?

Dunno about brewing. I used to feed it to my dogs to repel fleas and ticks. It workes great if the animal will eat it. Most dogs will. Most cats won't. Present dog won't. Have also heard of men planning fishing trips to northern Michigan eating the stuff for two weeks prior trip to repel the gnats and mosquitoes.

I ws looking for something else yesterday when I ran across a study that found that dairy cows fed brewer's yeast increased their milk and butterfat output- the milk increase difference was significant can't remember the # but it impressed me.

I add it to my homemade baby food for my 17 month old, as well as my super porridge for breakfast, the flakes are high in protein, Bvitamins, trace elements, and some other stuff I forgot... Sometimes I also throw some in my smoothies if I am lacking any of those nutirants for the day and just need to get them down...
