Interested in starting making homemade soap/lotions

Hey everyone,

I've made homemade soaps before using glycerin base, and lotions with a base I've bought from craft supply stores. I like what I get but would like to start with the real deal with lye soaps etc. I saw a post with questions about a crumbly batch so I figured I'd ask all the experts around here. Where do I start? And can you all give me some recomendations with books or websites? Recipes would be a plus too! Look forward to hearing from you!

Here is a simple, easy to understand site about how oils and lye work together: http://www.canis-art.com/soaping.htm

This is a excellent site that will answer just about every question you may have: http://www.millersoap.com/

I have a soapmaking page that shows pictures, gives links and has recipes: http://www.mullerslanefarm.com/soapmaking.html and for making lotions: http://www.mullerslanefarm.com/lotionmaking.html AND for salves: http://www.mullerslanefarm.com/salvemaking.html

A great website is www.handcraftedsoap.org. They have an extensive list of suppliers, as well as links to recipes and other soapers. Feel free to PM me with any questions, I've been making soap for a few months now and have a soap business.
