Northern lights

Just came in from the hot tub and the northern lights were dancing.

I've never had the chance to see northern lights (other than in pictures). It's one of the things I'm looking foward to in VT.

They are visible here in southern Indiana. On my way home tonight just had to pull over in the Goosepond and shut the lights off to watch. Absolutely beautiful!!! Pink, then green, then mostly a huge glowing area stretching from the west all across the northern sky to the east, then one gigantic spotlight-looking beam of light going from west straight up to the center of the sky. The heavens are sure declaring the glory of God tonight, and the firmament is showing His handiwork!!

Saw them here too east of Lansing. Absolutely beautiful. Kids were so excited, this is only the third time they've ever seen them.

The sky is completely lit up here in northern Minnesota. We see them all of the time but tonight is really something.

We saw them, too! The kids were quite tickled. Then we called my folks and they told us how they saw them in 1941 or so (?) because my dad, a child, thought it was the glow of London burning because of the Blitz. My mom remembered going out behind the big barn with all her family ... her dad died a few months later. Anyway, cool beans to see them, and so did the folks, and reminisce.

I didn't think they were forecast for tonight, either! We were having a bonfire in the back yard and there they were!

I seen them a couple years ago here in SW Missouri,looked like we had a big fire off to the North it just so wild.

the tv station here said people were seeing them as far south as I-20 in middle Alabama... I didn't see them, but maybe someone down here did.

I'm 30 miles south of mpls/st paul and these are the best I've ever seen here.

Arrrghh!

It's cloudy here! The same stupid cloud ceiling I've been looking at all day. You'd think the clouds could move off for just a minute so I could get a peak, but noooo...

This is just too wild seen them last night again here in SW Missouri.

Just a pretty Blue,then streaks,then they turned to red,then just like a Red cloud.This was about 11:30 last night.

I saw them about 12 years ago in Maine. I would love to see them again, but it's not common here in MA.

Yep, we saw them too.....just after our deer hunt yesterday evening....about 6 PM or so. Wind In Her Hair and me just stood outside watching the dancing white, blue, green, turquiose, red and orange lights for 1/2 hour. They encircled the entire horizon....north, east, west and south....all the way up to straight over head. The only other time I've seen northern lights that were as fascinating was about 30 years ago in Eskimo Point, NWT.

Wow. I have never seen anything like it before! There was one spot just south of directly overhead that had light streaks converging on it, then for a while it was glowing magenta. The whole northern sky was shimmering with green lights. I'm a bit south of Duluth, MN.

I went out to do the PM milking and they were right above the barn! Blue and spiky. Turned reddish/pink by the time I was done with chores. I grew up here in MN and never seen them like that.

Red is rare for northern lights. They are usually green/blue or yellowish.

I have only seen red a few times in 50 some years.

Great spectacle though, worth the time and effort.

Watch again tonight if you have clear skies. Sadly ours will be cloudy tonight.

What about here? We are not far from Missourri, very north Arkansas.
