SP2 Install?? Did it cause problems?

............I've had my SP disc for a month or so , but have held off on install since i've heard about people having Problems with their computer . I've got Zone Labs which is supposed to be compatable with SP so I'm wondering if I even Need to Fool with SP......fordy...

You might get a better answer in the computers forum.

I have NOT installed SP2 because of the known problems with its firewall.
Brian Livingston's newsletter has details on how to work without it.

I haven't had any problems with it at all. The firewall isn't an issue anyway, if you run a stand alone one. I use Norton's firewall, and it recommends disabling the Windows firewall during setup.

I did however, install SP2 on a fresh format and clean install of Windows.

I have installed SP2 on 3 machines here and 2 others. No problems.

I never use a port blocking firewall for the simple reason that any hacker worth his salt can walk right through it if the right vulnerabilities exist. I also recomend against firewalls for my customers, since firewalls can create access problems that customers ultimately blame on us.

Do your Microsoft security updates, use anti-virus software, and keep adware out of your machine.
