My dad has a diesel volkswagon jetta wagon. We average 50 miles per gallon, mostly highway, a little city. Diesel was cheaper then gas too, before he bought it, then it seemed to switch.

Does fuel efficiency really mean that much to somebody that can spend $20k to $50k for a new car?

Yup, I was gonna get me a John Deere green Lamborghini, Mazerati or one of those Bentleys... but passed because of the poor fuel efficiency... and none of them had a trailer hitch!

cheers,
