Chainsaw Roundbale Cutter

Anyone ever use one of these or see one in use?

Do you think they are worth the money and the effort?

The one I've seen costs $105 American.

I use a very sharp old hay knife....works great....
It's best to be able to jump up on top of the bale and use the knife at a 45 degree angle....but not absolutely necessary..

I've seen a few old hay knives in the past at flea markets, but didn't buy them. I did't have cattle at the time, now of course..., ahh well.

I had rather have something people powered too, if I could find it.

Thanks though.

Cutting bales

You can use your chainsaw in a pinch, and if you do it away from buildings, but if you do it regularly you'll burn out the saw in a hurry and it's a big fire hazard (neighbour burnt an 80 cow tiestall barn this spring doing just that). Buying a bale saw or a bale knife is a much better option.
