Tall tales....tell yours here.
thought it would be fun to hear some exaggerations, stretched truths, and downright whoppers..... I'll start.
My garden did very well this year. The cabbage grew great. The biggest head was so large we used the log splitter to cut it.............Margo

A friend bought us some pullets as a gift. He got us a buff orpington, a white rock, three production reds, two turkens, and a black australorp. Did you know that black australorps lay three eggs a day?

And the double yoked eggs hatch out 3 legged chickens. I've heard they are really good eatin' but they run so fast no one cant catch one to find out.

I hand crank started a freinds tractor driven homemade sawmill one time and didnt realize I was turning the crank on the tractor backwards. That sawmill uncut 2/3 of a truckload of planks before I got it shut down.

I bought 2 small horses to work with me in the woods. I soon relized i did'nt have cover for these wonderfull animals as all i had was a small chicken coop. The coop was fine for the time being as they were small horses. a solution to the housing problem had to be found. It did'nt take to relize i had a stand of small trees just a little taller than the horses. So i took a strong tarp tied it between those trees and as the horses grew so did the trees.

I had some mice I live trapped and noticed a small boat in the farmers pond. I wondered whether they could swim, so I rowed to the middle and dumped them over. They were headed for shore like little torpedos when the pond erupted with bass catching every mouse. Then I noticed a squirrel on a tree branch overhanging the water just above a partly exposed rock a few feet from shore. The squirrel was checking out an acorn setting on the rock. There was enough space on the rock, so the squirrel dropped off the branch and just as he landed a big bass jumped out of the water and swallowed him. I couldn't believe my eyes and was about to head back to shore when the big bass surfaced and put the acorn back on the rock.

Everyone's always saying Border Collies need jobs so this morning after my hubby left I put mine to work. As I sit here relaxing on the computer Huck, the oldest, is doing the dishes. Tippy, the six-month-old, is doing the laundry and Bonnie, the new eight-week-old puppy - well, she's so small and fluffy that the only job I could think of for her was floors. Right now she's busy dust mopping for me.
As for Tom, the big dumb Black Lab? He's cleaning bathrooms.
The cats saw what was going on and last I saw of them they were headed out of town for the weekend.

My house is neat and tidy, and never gets messy. There are no tulip and iris bulbs, ceiling light fixtures, cans of Bag Balm or small film containers of Indian medicine on the kitchen table. The printer is not sitting on a ladder, and the kitchen counter has no paint cans or drywall patch on it.
More important, it is possible to sit on the sofa without getting covered in dog hair.

Cleaning out the freezer to make more room for the frozen garden lima beans, and threw out some old ice cream drumsticks that had been in there for ages. The dog buried them for later.

Some good friends of mine had a lovely couple and child for neighbors for many years. Every year the couple and child went on vacation and asked my friends to take care of their rabbit outside in his cage. One year my friends noticed the neighbors were gone and assumed they needed to take care of the rabbit. Well, here comes their dog with the dead rabbit. They washed the rabbit and fluffed it up and put it back in the cage and the neighbors came home. The just-back neighbors came over and said thank you for trying to take care of our rabbit but he died and we buried him 2 weeks ago.

Male Fleas
We sighted in the deer rifle this weekend by shooting only the male fleas off the dog at 200 yards. It was really hard because the dog kept fluffing up her hair to make it harder for us to see the fleas.

Two mice fell from the rafters of my barn right into a bucket of milk...
One of the mice apparently saw how hopeless it was to try to climb up the sides of the bucket, and gave up and drowned.
The other mouse continued kicking with his feet and struggled to keep from sinking... He kicked so hard that he churned that milk into butter and climbed right out...
This is a true story as told to me by one of my cows who witnessed the whole thing...
