Chickens?

I am new to this forum, and as such I am not sure if I am posting in the right area, so please bare with me.

I was wondering where I might find information about whether or not I would be allowed to legally own and care for chickens in my area. I live in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY

I got my answer, and in case anyone else is wondering, the answer is yes for the Town of Smithtown in Suffolk County.
