If it where on my toe, or on my child's toe, I would clean it, sterilze a needle and open it up, then bandage it in several layers to keep it clean. and Not doing anything that would hurt it or get it dirty until it was truly well.
But that doesn't mean it is the best or right way for anyone else to handle it.
a few years ago, I had a badly mashed finger with blood under the nail and drilled a hole throught the nail to drain it, that was a spooky/creepy feeling.
...slowly twisting a small drill bit through the finger nail until it passed all the way throught to releive the pressure...
