you know you start with 6 you'll end up with 1-2... maybe not but but a very real out come.

We bought 8 pullets last year from a hatchery.
All turned out Roosters.

Go to a farm supply store. They often have sexed chicks for sale, with a minimum of 3 or 4 per purchase. Go soon because they won't have them much longer. I agree with Downhome...if you want to end up with 6, start with at least 8 or 9.

You can also try mail order. There are some hatcheries that will ship a minimum of 3 chicks per order such as My Pet Chicken.com. I don't know what their prices are like but it might be worth looking into. Good luck with your new adventure...chickens are addictive!

Thanks all good advice. My pet chicken is good. However if I can find a local supplier and avoid the shipping charge I would.
We will keep looking. Yea local T.S. Just ran out last weekend.

I'm in Western MA in the CT river valley. We have a local-ish online chicken forum. You might want to check it out. Some great information. Maybe somebody out here knows somebody out in your valley with the chick location wherewithal.

Group here is :

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a similar online group in your local area.
