we have new neighbors here, old order amish...but we have many questions about why they came here, are they leaving on a bad note from KY?.....they have lived several places in their lives, and are now middle aged....there are a lot of things that don't add up....least of all is their arrogance which seems counter to everything I have ever read about the Amish as a general culture....they do not have or seem to use the orange triangles, the slow moving vehicle warning signs that we are required to have on the backs of tractors and trailers....could this be part of the reason they came here?...thinking that they can be the exception to most rules...except the ones they make?....I will not name names here on a public forum, but I would like to know any background if there is any to know.....

They have established themselves here and so far are not on good terms with any neighbors....which seems unusual to me..they are ultra conservative...no septic system.....no rubber tires on anything....no solar charger for livestock fencing...of course no one here cares at all what their choices in personal lifestyle may be, but we do like to treat each other in a neighborly fashion....

I suppose this seems a bit cryptic, but I don't think it is right to publicly name any names....

perhaps I am totally off, but there are NO AMish here in this state to speak of....and I thought they mostly lived in community with like minded AMish...there are some here who have used the word cult.....

so I am wondering if anyone knows anything about a family who has moved from OH to KY and now NC?.....

I know there is an ultra conservative group that doesnt use the triangles on their vehicles. I have no idea why they would move, except that people do move for various reasons and most are legitimate reasons. Maybe they are reacting to the generally suspicious way their new neighbors are treating them. People are people and some are shyer than others.

let me clarify, they were all warmly welcomed when they arrived...by all neighbors young and old...until they started helping themselves to that which is not theirs to take...not stealing exactly, but making it clear that they want to live by their own set of regulations when it comes to certain rules, about hunting for example and staking their claim on other things as well.....time will settle it all, .......they are not happy about building codes and want to be the exception to everything....
