Leather Gloves

When you get leather cloves wet and they go hard when they dry how do you get them soft again?

Put them on and go back to work, they will soften up.

I have never been able to use gloves much myself. Honestly, the thought of using a $10 pair of leather gloves for any work and ruining them by wearing a hole in them bothers me. My skin will grow back for free, but if I rub a hole in the glove it cost me money!

Probably best to get two pairs and keep one ready when the other gets wet. For the wet pair(after they dry), you can use Neatsfoot oil to get them soft again.

Pigskin gloves are better - they will not keep warmth but can pull out horrible high bush blackberry stalks and no puncture. I depend on mine. Someone stole my leather gloves at a campground. I left them by the fire ring.

I use saddle soap on mine to keep them soft. Had a pair of leather "gauntlets" - the ones that go up to the elbows, to handle injured animals and to stack wood...they walked off somehow. Thick leather ones are extremely expensive now; was lucky to hold on to them as long as I did, about 16 yrs.

If you have nothing to lose...you might try WD-40. My son accidentally discovered that worked on his 'ruined' leather gloves.

Wow that is expensive.
I have an old metal gallon of Neatsfoot Oil that I paid a dollar for.
It is kinda funny that it is a can just like the one some farmer used to make a new gas tank for one of my hit-n-miss engines.
