Stove question

We are looking to replace our gas stove with another gas stove that has no electric parts to it. We found one called "Premier", with a battery ignition but it doesn't get good reviews. Does anyone know of a non electric gas stove that both the range and the oven can be lit wihout electricity?

I have a five year old Premier, no battery pilot lights only, got it at Lowe's for I think 248.00. A friend who is off grid just bought a "Brown" brand stove, much more expensive, no battery, though really it is just a battery, he loves it. A battery costs a few dollars, added up to the price to keep the pilot light running, I might look into that when I need another stove.

The battery part doesn't bother me. It's that it costs more than $750 now and apparently the metal is quite thin.

Holy COW, that is more than the Brown Stove, which gets much better reviews my friend recently bought, that is insane!!

We bought a "Unique" propane stove about a year ago and I love it. It is non electric and has battery ignition on the range burners and stove. Unique products are made in Canada, so I can't estimate a price, but I suggest you look them up.

I'll look those up. We need to replace an older stove that has a burner that is not working properly. That one can be lit with a match on the top, but the oven can't be lit without electricity. I'm annoyed that there are all kinds of safety features built into the new models and I can't find a really simple one at one of the big box stores.

We live off-grid and have a 5' Garland commercial range that doesn't use any electricity. It does have 11 pilot lights though. NOT cheap but really nice.

Just ask your local appliance dealer for a stove with pilot burners and oven. They sell them here all the time, and they are usually cheap. Lots of cabins and hunting shacks use them. I love mine - have had it for 15 years.

Who needs a timer and oven light anyway.

Thanks Alder. That is a good suggestion. I'll ask there Monday.

The Garland looks amazing Gray Wolf!
