Roof Coatings for Mobile Homes, elastormeric or asphalt based AL

I've used the aluminum asphalt aluminum coating in the past on mobile home roofs, is the White elastomeric worth the switch? (10% increase in efficiency)

Is the elastomeric compatible with the aluminum coating that is already on the roof?(both are from kool seal)

I used elastomeric as an exterior seal on a stick built home with concrete block roof. It did reduce the heat load. It did not resolve the leak the roof had, even though I could see no gap or seam. Use a real membrane and get real results.

I have used elastomeric latex, it did very well for me.

I used it once on an asphalt-composite roof where the tar had began releasing the pebbles and the tar paper was curling. The roof shingles were basically failing. Instead of spending $20k to re-roof, I spent $100 to paint over the shingles. It sealed the pebbles back onto the shingles, and gave us another 5+ years of life from that roof. I would do it again, if I still owned that style of roof.

In fact, I would schedule to have such a roof re-painted ever 5 years, just to keep from ever having to re-shingle.

Prep is very important. Remove anything that is loose, all dirt. I even put coarse sand paper on a broom handle pad and rough up the old seams a little, wash down well and apply. The new latex worked very well for me, makes a layer that will "move" with the roof, not crack like the old coatings. White reflects the heat so it stays more stable. I apply 2 coats, a week apart, some are almost 10 years now, no leaks....James

The mobile home had several leaks when I bought this place. Two coats of elastomeric stopped the leaks. It did bubble up in one place where the water stands. I found an elastomeric that works under standing water (you put it on a dry surface) and put some on last fall. We'll see how it does.
