The bigger the wood for my stove means less draw and harder to keep burning. I've even had the fire go out. Another plus is its much easier to handle. Not having a Insert, not sure how they burn a radiate.
but I can burn a fire.
once I have a bed of coals rather have a load of Full vs split logs in the stove.
Stacked so they burn down to said bed.
Faster it burns more heat up the chimney,more you burn,more you have to stoke.
Really comes down to what I'm burning.
Some stove I burn in batches.
