Painting the porch

Right now my covered porch is bare wood. The floor is painted with that hard texture paint, I think by rustolium in a reddish clay color..

My house is stark white with black shutters.
Living here in Georgia we have that famous red Georgia clay (hence the floor color of the porch) and it's really good at staining, everything. I garden a lot and my boys live to get dirty and the SO is a logger so it's going to get very dirty. Im debating on what color to paint it and what kind of paint.

We also have a HUGE pollen issue out here.

I'm just wondering what yalls opinion on colors should be. I really would like white but i am debating black. Also what should i pick out that can stand up to the dirt, wear, and pressure washing?

Black stain holds up really well here. Buy the best.

Before you buy any stain/paint, be sure to read reviews on what you're looking at. Some of the supposedly "best" deck paints have really bad reviews.

If it's already been painted, you're gonna have to use paint for your next coat.

Floor is paint - have to use paint again - I'm sorry.

If you're going to do the bare wood, please use a stain, not a paint. it'll hold up better - especially if you're going to pressure wash it. Recently went through this research with a new porch also.

As far as color - either black or white will show the dirt most. Black with pollen? Nope. Try some sort of tan or wood color.

I'd go to HD or wherever you buy your paint & get a color chart - bring it home, tack it up on the porch & look at it over a few days in different lights. It's a porch - most anything will go with a white house with black shutters. Contrasts look good, too.The color will come. I've got color samples taped on the walls right now in my kitchen.

I would use white stain on the railings and such, then repaint the floor with the red clay color that doesn't show all the dirt being tracked on it.
Nothing says it all needs to be one color.

We used Behr deck paint from Home Depot last spring, I'll be pressure blasting the loose stuff off and repainting this spring. It's over pressure treated decking, but we let it dry for 9 months before painting over primer.

We wanted to just stain it, but the brilliant people at the Yellow Wood plant put their doggone blue printing on the good side.

The flooring is good. I painted it about 2 years ago..

I just dont think I want white. The dirt.
I can deal with the pollen on black.. I can just hose that off..

Maybe I can do the railings black and the poles white.

I think I want to paint the front door black as well. Its white and so beyond stained no amount of scrubbing will be cleaning
What kind of paint for that?

Terracotta colored paint and make sure to put some grit in the paint while applying it. Nothing slicker than a painted wood porch when it's wet.
