Just keeps getting better and better

Per the KY weather service:

An Arctic high moving over Kentucky Thursday night will set the
stage for temperatures to plummet to the teens below zero... or
worse... Looking ahead... a developing storm system will take aim at eastern
Kentucky starting Friday night with a likelihood of accumulating
snow into Saturday morning. As it looks now... the snow will
eventually transition to rain by mid afternoon Saturday with a
mixture of sleet and freezing rain possible that morning. In
addition... the strength of this system may be enough to bring
moderate to heavy rains with it resulting in a potential for
flooding as the snow starts to melt.

I'm a MT native but relocated to KY 15 years ago, so snow and cold weather isn't quite as traumatizing for me as some but I've been here 15 years now and have forgotten a lot of what I knew about snow and cold. Don't have all the equipment I had in MT although I did bring my snowshovel and the chains for the 4 wheel drive.

Yeah, right now it's snowing so hard we can't see 50 yrds out from the house. 4-5" on the ground, looking for that much more again. Calling for right around zero tonight, 10 for a high tomorrow, and -10 tomorrow night.

So far, I've been able to keep the hoophouse temps about 25 degrees above outside, but tomorrow night is going to flat get interesting !

Right now I'm at -7F, I hit -17F (no wind chill) earlier in the year. Last winter I saw -26F. Needless to say, I am over winter.

Me and my wife was just talking and we don't think we will have Bible Study in the morning because it is suppose to be so cold. Sunday service at Church is still questionable.

Whiteout conditions here all day today and tomorrow. It's really nasty out there and yet I see driver after driver without their lights on. That's about as dumb as you can get today. Besides being out in a car anyway.

Hang tight- spring has to arrive eventually.

63 degrees and sunny, not a cloud in the sky. Doors and windows open. Loving it.

I was just telling dh we should take a trip to Alaska so we can thaw out. Not the first time Anchorage has seen spring before Ohio. Makes me want to move there even more.

Right now it is -7 supposed to get 10 above as a high, then -10 tonight. People here in KY are just not prepared for temperatures this cold. We're doing better than most but mostly because because we are from MT and WY originally and somewhat better prepared to deal with it.

However, I miss my insulated snow machine gloves!

It's no fun along the lake in NW Ohio. I could probably manage the cold but the ice that formed before it snowed and got cold is killing me. I've strained my back muscles twice just walking across the yard. Sometimes, I think it's better to just fall.

I feel sorry for my southern friends that are getting below zero. We have -18F this morning - not a big deal. But when you are not set up for sub-zero with your water, animals, pipes, etc, sub zero can very much raise havoc. Hang in there!

-5 at our house this morning. Calling for high of 10 today, and low of -10 tonight.

Inside of the hoop house was 23 this morning. Double covered everything last night with another frost cover. Should be OK. Open 55gal barrel of water inside did have top of the water frozen over (maybe 1/2"). Sun popped out about 10am and the temp went to nearly 50 almost immediately.

It got to -4F.

What is funny there is a woman that works with my wife at OEM. Won't take FEMA Test, won't drive if there is any kind of precipitation or after dark.

I live in cold a snow and I still don't like driving in snow or after dark. I think that can be an age thing though because I don't feel I see as far as I used to.

My hoop house was 5 degrees this morning, but mine only has chickens in it right now.

Once the sun came out though it climbed into the high 70's.
