I apologize

I admit I have been lazy and not coming on the computer much and when I do I barely do anything and log off..not sure why. anyway I'm sorry I haven't been here for all my friends..I'll attempt to do better.

UPDATE: Ron had 3 more surgeries this winter and has his last postop appt thurs..and seems to be doing well..

We have only had to plow a couple of times this year but it has been brutally cold..but still not as bad as last year.

I have all my plants and seeds and trees ordered for this year..learning that in the -30's some things just won't survive outside so trying to figure out if I should be doing a little more container planting for things I want to grow that just won't make it in this weather..like zone 3 kiwi plants that died last year from too harsh spring frosts..I have more bought for 2015..and some I will plant outside in late June and protect protect protect and a couple I'll put in a huge pot with a trellis and haul into the garage or shed for winter..

Trying paw paw again this year..they grow huge so can't really put in a pot but I think I'll build some kind of protection over them while they are young..once grown they should fare well enough here as they also are zone 3..we are zone 4/5 here. Any northerners have any luck with these above plants??

I don't think you've been lazy if he's gone through three surgeries lately! You've been doing a lot keeping him going, I'll bet!

Glad you are ready for spring as far as the garden goes. I've never tried any of those you've mentioned, guess I've tried enough "iffy" stuff for my zone in the past to not try any more. I'm also in zone 4/5. Used to be zone 3 when I was kid, then gradually zone 4, and the last ten years it was looking like a solid zone 3 again. Darn weather!

definately changing since we were kids ey..
Last year our low was in the -30's which is zone 4..but we have always considered ourselves zone 5 here...not anymore..lost too much to the cold.

I think we are solidly zone 4 now with some zone 3 winters..esp when we have wind..I've lost full size canadian hemlock trees in winters with cold with wind.

the past two years ..winters..have been really cold here. I'm sure Ontario has been having pretty much the same thing. I think we are in one of those 15 to 20 year cycles where we have cold..but the cycle timing is off...the last two were 78 and 98..so what is the deal with 14 and 15 ?? should be 18..hopefully we aren't leading up to something really bad in 18.

sun is shining here and we are 10.4 outside right now..and that is in the sun. hubby even cancelled his post op appt for tomorrow.

by the way my blog is dead..I can't get on it..will have to develop a new one if I can't get the old one to work..
