Amazon Prime & Sunday Delivery

I know there are a lot of Amazon Prime users here, so I'll put this right out in Homesteading.

Does anyone know how to turn off "Sunday Delivery" as an option? What may sound like a convenience for some is a not a good thing for us.

I don't know if you can make that a permanent account setting, but I believe you can click on something like "doesn't have to be here 3 seconds after I order it" (maybe 3-5 day shipping?) on your shipping options before placing an individual order.

Do you get mail via the USPS?

That is who Amazon has pared up with to deliver on Sundays and other days as well~The U.S. Postal Service is known for working through rain, sleet and snow, but not on Sundays or holidays, right?

That is changing, quickly, through a deal with Amazon. In many parts of the country, products ordered from Amazon now arrive at your home seven days a week, year-round.

With the mail box a mile from my house, any delivery to my door is out of the question, on any day of the week.

@manygoats, that's somewhat shadows our dilemma. We don't want /need Sunday delivery. If I knew a day not to order on to avoid it, I would. We order quite a bit online, so it happens on occasion. The first time I had some poor stranger driving down our drive to deliver, I apologized for peeling her away from family to deliver something that had no matter of urgency. She said, "it's my job." I just smiled and thanked her anyway.

The USPS does indeed deliver amazon packages on Sunday. They are not our normal carriers and are unfamiliar with our area (and ways) and generally give up on finding our place and just stick it in a neighbor's mailbox, if it fits. Our normal carrier said it is their way of letting her straighten things out on Monday. Other complications abound. I usually graze the cows on the driveway strip of pasture on Sundays and close the gates on each end. That wasn't the case this last go round. They just gave up.

We aren't in any of them
Lately, Im happy if Prime manages to show up in less than a week, much less the 2 days I'm paying for

Just wait till Amazon buys many of the Radio Shack stores that are closing, they will be close to most anyone if and when that may take place.

I believe that would be the company-owned Radio Shacks. We have three local ones that are independently owned.

wife talked with the mail carrier he said they have one guy who does all the Sunday delivery it gets him extra hours.

my father-in-law worked for the post office for a bunch of years , sorters and dock techs worked Sunday all the time so it isn't really anything new for them

the hole world isn't christian , it's the perfect job for those who worship Saturday or don't believe in anything

but you can do USPS mail holds online and just have your mail held for sunday

Amazon Prime & Sunday Delivery

@greencountypete

Sunday holds sound like the ultimate fix in my case. I'll check into that.

Fortunately for me, I'm a Christian. Also fortunately for me, I am not so dogmatic that I think the world should stop spinning on a particular day of the week for all. I definitely value the virtue of work and can't imagine restricting it from one that wants it and needs it. (I also equally value a day off).

I genuinely felt bad for that lady that she was out spending time behind the wheel on dusty county roads looking for my place on such a beautiful day delivering a package that could wait a day for the normal mail route.. I was her sole delivery. It sure blows my justification for ordering online.

But the bottom line is that Sunday is my day off. I do not welcome the distraction, or the need to make myself presentable for when they come knock on the door. Or in the most recent case, asking all my neighbors if they have my mail.

In December I was when I saw a USPS mail truck driving thru our neighborhood... thought I had my days messed up! But I did notice that, for a while at least, we were getting packages from Amazon delivered on Sunday. It seems that, for our area, that was a temporary thing (for the holidays I assume?).

I have found Amazon to be very good about getting packages to my door in 2 days, but then I live in a pretty suburban area (mixed blessing). I personally like having Sunday delivery as an option, and I know that it gives extra hours to people who probably need the work - and I also know that, if they're working on Sunday, it's because they volunteered for it, so it doesn't hurt my feelings at all. YMMV

We were surprised a few weeks back with a Sunday delivery. I agree with the others, nothing I order from Amazon warrants a Sunday delivery. I will be clicking that "not on Sunday" button, too, in the future.

You could put a sign on your gate stating no Sunday delivery.

Hm, if I was worried about Sunday delivery, I would order on Monday.

And all this not long after they were contemplating doing away with Saturday delivery.

Honestly, I find it a little odd that people are so much of the "NOW" mindset that Sunday delivery is even an issue.

I worked at one of the Amazon FCs this past peak season and spent most of the time in two different areas of packing. They are set up so that the packers know which orders HAVE to go out like NOW in order to meet their prime customers' schedules. You would expect that there would be a lot of important kind of stuff in those orders. Most of what I saw, in reality, was what looked like the kid got a hold of mom's credit card and had a grand ol' time spending some money on junky trinkets... and while we're at it, might as well get it FAST.

Sometimes this ol' world seems like it's moving way, way too fast for me.
