Frost seeding

We frost seeded a couple areas with rape and clover last year. It worked great. We did it in late March when it was freezing at night and thawing in daytime, no snow though. I am wanting to frost seed some more this year but I want to do for fescue for pasture and our yard where we trenched water line and septic. I am wanting to try it with snow to help with the grass. So.... We are expecting to get 4 plus inches this weekend, is it too early to do it now with us having so much winter left? I think the snow will help with birds and our chickens eating it. Advise? Thanks!

I would be more worried about the mice. They get under the snow.
