Update to my September thread re: New roof for house

Happy news everyone! A family member loaned me the money to get the work done, and it is coming right along.

The front porch is now level, reattached to the house securely, with new posts and new support system. It had sagged down 3 inches at the outer corner. New wood where it was needed, and plenty of bracing underneath.

Metal roof will be going on soon, I picked the Galvalume, bright silver metal as I think it will reflect a lot of heat in the summer.

Honest and skilled workman doing the job, has been in the home construction business for 20 years. He is willing to help me and gave me a very good price for both the porch and the roof.

I am repaying my family member who loaned me the money, and everyone is happy.

Since then, I have discovered more water damage in the house around the living room window, and that will be seen about in a few months, when I have some money saved back. We don't know yet if it is from the roof leaking, or where the window unit a/c was sitting and letting rain come in around it.

If I knew how to post pictures, I would put some up, but I don't have a clue.

Glad to hear your good news! Having a sound roof overhead is a great comfort.
