Do you have more interests than time?

I have so many interests I don't have time to enjoy them all.Coming up shortly it making maple syrup and pruning the fruit trees.The starting the garden plants,chasing Morels and turkey hunting.The fish will be going by then and shortly thereafter it'll be crawfish,turtles and frogs.Then actually getting the garden in and every other spare minute is cutting firewood for next year.
On top all this I keep hearing about "ramps and fiddleheads",neither of which I have had before and really want to try.And thank God for rainy days so I can get back inside and finish the bathroom I'm trying to put in the basement!
I like metal detecting when I have time,Hunting squirrel ,rabbit ,quail,dove ,goose and deer.
You know I have to dig some Ginseng and yellowroot,And there's a trap line to run and putting up furs.And that comes in the later part of the canning season!Hopefully I've killed enough fish to make my own fish oil for trapping,and I love to throw a game of horseshoes and play pool when I can.
So how do you find time to take care of the chickens,beekeeping,composting, and other homesteading things let alone going out to make a living?
Seems the older I get the more interests I have and the less time to participate in them!
Do y'all do this too or is it just me?

Yes, I have this problem. That is why it's best for me to stay home on the farm and do everything that makes up for my income. I often think about people that claim to be lonely or that need to be arround other people,as I'm perfectly fine by myself and the animals working on some project. There is hardly time for me to spin or knit,weave. I've had to drop many things I do with my hands, they are too busy. People at my dh's work often ask what I do all day. Right now, we had to rescue a calf from the freezing weather, it had a hard birth and was very weak. It is in the tiled entryway. We tryed to take it back to it's mother 2 times-that ain't happening. People think it's so gross to have one in the house,but it is easer than takeing care of a human baby if you know their routine.It's always something arround here.

Yep, more interests and wanna-do's than I could possibly accomplish in a 100 years... The list is endless! I don't think I can say I've ever been bored, lol.

My problem right now is that I want to learn to do everything myself. I got two whitetail's worth of venison as a Christmas gift and after successfully canning it I'm thinking "Hmmm, we have guns. I could do this by myself. I'm sure butchering a 150 lb animal isn't that hard." My poor husband thinks I'm nuts, especially since he still believes meat should come on a styrofoam tray.

Funny, the phrase that gets me in trouble is "you can't do that, it's not possible." Some how I never listen.

Yep, I just finished a 1/2 day project that took two full days to get done.

I have more projects than life left. And I am 45. Which reminds me to get off the computer and go get the tire fixed that I notice was flat on the car I have to drive to work on Monday.

LOL! Mine is "Oh, I can do that!" and is usually followed with one or more of the following:

"it'll be EASY!"
"it shouldn't take more than a day or two!"
"it'll cost us WAY less than buying it!"
"we've already got everything we'll need for it!" (yeah, right!)

Yup. I have lots of interests and enjoy researching and learning new things. Feels good when I can help some one else,because I knew how to get the job done,or had the right tool,or just plain made the time!

Don't we all? I am working hard to enjoy the moment and not spend so much time glaring at the every growing list of stuff I think I should could would be doing.

No. I have a lifetime lived to date that has been filled with many interests to date.

For my entire lifetime to date I have found my interests adequate to fill my day.

Tomorrow I may revisit and undertake an existing interest again for a period of time , simply remember a past interest in relaxing reflection that has become a facet of my lifetime or select another interest for the day to come to become yet another facet of my lifetime interests.

Carpe Diem but only to the facet intensity which I choose for the coming day of my lifetime. Not every day in pursuit of Carpe Diem climaxes in Veni, vidi, vici ,however enough do to provide my pleasure maximum for the day

Predictably in the spirit of the ages old Latin defined disciplines tempered with the realistic limitations as I progress in my lifetime maintain a comfortable balance between my time and my interests to keep me from being bored with life.

It' a Great Day to be Alive by Travis Tritt seems to embrace the age old perspectives for me in modern perspective enough that it has been my personal anthem for 14 years .

Yes! Every time I start a new project or learn a new skill it seems to lead to 6 other interesting things I had never heard of before but want to try now. At least I never get bored.

Yes. The "inside" interests equal the "outside" interests. Unfortunately, the "outside" needs far outweigh the "outside" days. Leaving too few "inside" days for "inside" interests.

Fortunately, today was all about "inside". I tried a new roasted butternut squash soup recipe. The base was so acidic that I think I made mozzarella when I added the dairy. Ironically, I have tomorrow slated for real cheesemaking. No doubt, I'll end up with soup!

Good thread. There is a painted stave limb in the line shack that I know has a self bow in it. I work at Piano, banjo and violin and cows. Property mantaince never ends. I want bees but just enjoy them by reading about them here.
