lampshades, fluorescent, LED bulbs

A number of my lamps use those shades that clamp over incandescent light bulbs. Won't take wire assemblies for the other kind of shade. What do I use if I want to swap out for fluorescent bulbs? I am trying one LED bulb as an experiment. The shape would seem OK with a clamp-on shade, but is that safe? Advised against? Thanks.

LED bulbs would be safe, but CFL bulbs with mercury could be a hazard even if they have a standard shape.

Halogen bulbs would work...they are the same size and shape as the old incandesents...

I've had one on an LED bulb for several months. The rubbery coating on the bulb has melted a little where the wire clamp is touching it, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. I think the bulb is actually pretty thick glass. It seems to be tougher than an incandescent bulb.

Nope.
Nancy Pelosi decided they're good.
No need to stress your little mind thinking about it.
Aide informed her. She informed you. Don't question it.

Now, if I could just get her drip-free fuel cans to work...

Easy, install a tire valve stem, w/o the valve, in the top away from the spout. I've got about 20 like that.
