Neighbor kids got a 4 wheeler

Neighbor kids got a 4 wheeler for Xmas.

Im just waiting for them to drive it into my welded wire fence.

Each piece is 100' long and houses 2 GSD and sometimes goats. When/if they do drive it into my fence (pretty much inevitable) should I ask them to replace the whole 100' piece or will it survive with a 50' fix and look/hold up the same?

Welded, not woven?? That won't hold up in the long run at all.
They need to replace the section they tear down, so if it's just a 20ft section, then that's what they replace.

If you're lucky, they will tear up the machine quickly.

I'd not worry about it... If the time ever does come, then see what the parents want to do and deal with it then... Worrying about things that haven't happened causes too much stress...

Ya why worry about something that has not happened yet, and may not happen at all.

Myself, I would get a cheap roll of pink surveor's tape and go out and tie it along the fence every few feet and hope that gives them a heads up before the bash into it.

Why in the world do you think the kids are going to crash into your fence?

I wouldn't not worry about anything till it actually happens. I personally don't need any extra stresses.

...............Taken clear pics of any fence they could possible run into , so you can file a claim in small claims court and prove to the court the condition prior to any damage caused by your neighbors . , fordy

The things people worry about amazes me. And the responses on what you should do is mind boggling . What ever happened to people minding their on business. Just be happy they got a 4 wheeler and get outside to play.

please hang some colored cloth on that wire to remind the kids about the wire, we had a teen boy beheaded on our wire fence in Texas, we did not know the boy he was visiting family near by and followed the horse trail that ran behind our place. I never would have thought someone would be cutting through ranches on four wheeler s but it happened.

Thanks for the replies that actually answered my question!

...I can do without the snarky ones.
I just find it amazing yall know the neighbors habits, layout of the land, and that I shouldn't take the welfare of my animals into consideration!

I'm guessing you have an issue with your neighbour.

I'd be more worried about a kid getting hurt or killed than my fence and I would flag the fence with the hope that the kid and my fence survived.

I think you should flag the fence first. Then immediately go speak to the kids' parents about what you've done with the fence. Ask the parents if they think you did a good enough job of flagging it to make it more visible to their children because you don't want their children to hurt themselves on it and you don't want the parents to have to go to a lot of extra expense replacing it. I think the parents will get the message and hopefully they'll pass the right message on to their children.

I'm sorry but I'm still trying to get past the welded wire fence with goats.

Why? It works perfectly fine for the 5 or so years Ive had them.. Its 5 ft and Ive never had a single problem with them.

The fence is highly visible, you cant miss it.. It is marked with yellow on all the posts.

...and I dont think the kids are going to purposely ram my fence. Its more of an age and inexperience factoring into it.
They are nice enough people next door, but Ive had my share of neighbor trouble enough to be wary and take precautions .

...and Im sorry, its a Go-Kart, not a 4-wheeler.
My BIL just got one for my kids this christmas (which its not coming to my house for the exact reasons listed.. so its not just the neighbors Im worried about) and after seeing how those things can run wide open, I know Im not crazy for "stressing out" over something like this.

Maybe you should ask the parents to tie whatever on anything they don't want their kids to hit. That covers the other neighbors fences trees ect. Some people are oblivious to what their kids can get into.

If you are that worried about it ask the neighbors to put bales of straw along the area in concern for the kids to hit instead of the fence for their own protection

I guess I don't understand either why you "know" at some point the neighbor kids are going to run into your fence.

If they have their own big area to ride in, there shouldn't be a problem. And most kids have self survival instincts that tell them not to run into a welded wire fence or their body will hurt.
