I know I was never going to complain about rain...

After the drought we had this year but.....

I hate rain so heavy and wind driven that a water proof coat can not keep it from being pushed through the zipper and up the cuffs and down the collar and fills the rubber boots so I'm carrying two swimming pools at the end of each leg. Like this morning.

It like walking through a car wash. Only I come out dirty instead of clean.
Jokarva and light rain like this.

Fun In The Rain

Hello Neighbor over on the next ridge..

Yes today was quite the rain with 60 mph wind gusts, sideways rains, toppling trees, power outages, and all around mayhem due to Mother Nature. It was almost like some of the winter storms from back in the 80's/ 90's when it used to flood the local rivers.

We lost commercial power here on Fickle Hill a couple of times this morning, and while at the neighbors for our annual Christmas Eve gathering, the wind was howling at times. It was not a constant wind, but the unexpected gusts which threw water every which way no matter much rain gear, or how tall the rubber boots one was wearing. The current temperature is just above freezing this evening, which makes me glad to be home with a fire in the wood stove...

Maybe will will get for Christmas a dusting of snow here just under 2,000 feet above sea level.

Last year, south of us, 7th Swan’s neighborhood was without power 2 weeks before Christmas and running through into January. Count your blessings.

Maybe you’d prefer that rain in the form of snow? Can’t complain here. It snowed, but has all melted so DD and family can make the 3 hour trip to hour house.
light rain likes this.

Cool

It is always funny seeing how others react to weather when it is not the norm. Here in Florida it is always and always windy (hurricanes are just an added bonus). What you experienced sounds like a summer to us HOWEVER let it snow here, even an inch........pure mayhem

We kept your rain here. My ground is still wet more than 18 inches deep. The clay did crack a little between July and August. Been snowing since 7am this morning.

We had a lot of flooding last week, 11" of rain the last 3 days. River is raging and washed out the road to town in 2 places. County got them rip rapped so we got out Christmas morning to DDs. We had to dodge the trees and limbs in the road. Been calm the last 2 days. I heard the road grader out yesterday morning. Supposed to hover around freezing during the day and 22 to 25 at night the next week.
