Bulk Food Packaging

We went to one of the Mennonite Bulk Food Stores we go to. They always Tape Tie their Bags which for me is a pain, I always cut the Tape and use Twist Tie.

I asked them why they didn't just use Twist Ties? They said they had people opening Bags and eating stuff in the store.

Makes sense to me I never would have even thought of it.

Yep. The Amish will never open a tape tie.

I hate them too but in Canada, food is required to be sealed to prevent food tampering but bread seems to be exempt because they still use those nasty plastic things that I can never find after I open the bag.

I thought the univeral practice was to throw out the twist tie on bread after the first opening. Then just give 'er a spin and tuck under

Our Mennonite store uses twist ties. I never thought about eating out of a bag that I wasen't going to buy.I would'nt put it past others tho. Going there is always a chore,dh won't go anymore and he does all the rest of the shopping.Too many people just standing and looking at things that aren't pre-made and packaged gets em all messed up.

I don't throw them out but do use the spin and tuck technique.

Somewhere in my house, there must be a gigantic void, slowly filling with plastic bread tabs and single socks.

And wire hangers.

I save Twist Ties. When I worked as a Baker they would Change Color of Twist Tie for the day of the week, so people would know what was on the shelf.

I can remember the wire twist ties but they don't seem to be used anymore. We had a food tampering issue a few years back so everything is taped or those nasty plastic tabs that hide under the stove.
