Bale spear?

I have seen a bale spear on a 3 point for sale. Would that work to go on my Farmall 300 3 point? Will that tractor have the power to lift and drive with one or will it raise the front end? Thanks

I can lift with my AC D15II Wide Front when the hay is dry. When they get wet, it's a little dicey. I have to use the brakes a little to steer. Hope this helps even a little.

I make 5x6 bales, that would be a challenge.

Smaller round bales, you'd have a chance. Newer balers can pack a lot of hay in, heavy bale. Older balers a lighter bale.

So, it depends.

I can barely lift my bales with the Ford 960, and the front gets real light. The 300 has a bit weaker hyd, so would have to be lighter bales?

dry hay should be around 500lbs... wrapped baleage is going to be 900-1400 most likely....

Nope. A 300 is basically a modernized H Farmall. Not enough umpf to lift a normal sized big bale. Front end would come up. Not safe.

Well I do 4x5 mainly ... but yea at 5x5.5 you would be heavier.. your baler really packs it in there for a 1300lb dry bale!! When I send out a semi load of wrapped baleage we come around the axle max of 30 tons... and usually get about 40-42 bales on.

Ok, I have a 580CK backhoe so I guess I will just use that. I just wanted to know before I bought a spear. Thanks!
