rust on glass lids?

I have some glass lids that got rust stains on them. They were in a plastic bag with some canning-jar lids. Good ideas for getting the rust off? Thank.

CLR, or a thick paste of baking soda and water, with elbow grease applied.

Can't think of the name right now - potassium something -but it is a compound used to clean and sterilize wine bottles and equipment that can be found at any place that sells wine making equipment and kits. Back when I used to make wine this stuff worked wonders on glass - I collect decorative bottles and a lot of time they are stained with only go knows what and one teaspoon per gallon of hot water and just soaking for 20 min they look like brand new. I should also mention that it is food safe once it dries not to mentioned sanitized as well and is also pretty cheap $10 for a bag that's 1 lb so works out to pennies per gallon of water.

Thanks, Convoy, I'll try to locate that. I've tried dish detergent, Comet & bleach soak. I was hoping to avoid the elbow-grease method, which in this case isn't working too well, anyway.

Soak them in The Works toilet bowl cleaner - it'll take the rust right off. I buy mine at Dollar Tree.

Potassium Citrate or Potassium Metabisulfite?

Gasoline does wonders on rusty metal, I know you would not really want to employ it in this instance but I have to think another solvent might work, maybe Acetone (finger polish remover).

Most rust removers are Acidic, so you might want to try some Vinegar.

Glass Stove Top Cleaner. Dap it on, sit for a minute or so and wipe off. Easy. BTDT No mess, no fuss.
