storing loose minerals?

Just curious on what everyone uses to store their loose minerals in? I don't want to put them all out at once as everyone just wastes them.

If you mean fifty lb. bagged minerals, just keep the bag up off the floor, if it is concrete. IF it is a wood floor, it may not be an issue. Good luck.

If it gets hard it doesn't matter, they just lick it. You might consider investing in a high quality Rubbermaid trashcan if you want to have something that you can empty the bags into.

^^ What I use for them in the field.

Otherwise, just keep the bag shut and off the floor.. pallet works fine for me.

Yah, I meant the 50lb bags. Coons and several other critters have been ripping the bags to shreds.

I use a metal can (3-1/2 ft tall & 18" diameter) with a tight fitting lid so rodents cannot get in it. Have no idea what came in it as a neighbor gave it to me when he moved. I actually use large metal drums (I believe paint came in these.) that were washed up and have metal lids for all my feed too. I have 2 of these in the milking area, one just inside my barn and 3 in the wood shed next to my fattening/slaughtering pen. (Had to tar the bottom of one and the top of another; but all have worked well for nearly 18 yrs.)
