Flannel sheets...

I hope you will forgive a somewhat frivolous thread. It's about a set of flannel sheets.

About 3 or 4 years ago, I was in a Mennonite store in southern Lancaster County Pennsylvania and bought a set of flannel sheets. They were the most comfy set of sheets we've ever had. We probably used them more than most would use flannel sheets because we liked them so much.

This year, they were finally worn out so badly that we had to dispose of them. And it was a sad day.

The thing of it is, I've never seen another pattern like them, and for some reason, I really liked that pattern. They were white, maybe not quite pure white, but not far from, with an ivy or grape leaf vine type pattern running through. I have not seen that pattern in a long time but it's one of my all time favorites.

Anyone know where I might find another set like them?

Wow, I think I have that same set! But my bottom sheet is worn out. I believe I got mine online....maybe from a department store on sale. I use flannel sheets all year long and I live in Arizona. They have benefits other than being warm...they are also cool and do not get that damp feeling when the humidity is high. Although they are expensive these days. The ones you speak of were a light weight flannel while many of mine are heavy weight. sis

I don't know what weight they were. They were quite "thick" but were way more "fluffy" than other sets we have. Soooooooooo comfy.

In the last year or so of their life, they did start to tear quite easily, which is ultimately why they had to go.

I looked for a label on them pretty thoroughly and never did find anything of any use. Correlle makes a pattern in their dishes that kinda reminds me of them but the ivy on the sheets covered the whole thing, not just the edge.

I know it's kinda silly, wanting to get another of the same pattern... I'm a creature of habit.

LL Bean sells very good flannel sheets. They are made in Portugal. You can buy the in solid, strip and plaid patterns and come in many colors. I have been buying them for years.

there's only a couple months of the year that I don't use my flannelette sheets. mine are the heavy ones too and they were called flannelette blankets. I have 5 sets queen size flat . I alternate them so they don't wear out as fast. only ever seen the stripe on both ends pattern. I'd like to come across the one the op mentioned. ~Georgia

only 3 or 4 years eh! they can't be like the heavy ones I have . my husband has been gone 12 years and I had them then. I can't see where they are any thinner yet. but like I say I do rotate them. ~Georgia

No discussion of flannel sheets is frivolous. We are also year round flannel users. I like LL Bean and The Company Store. There's a weight for flannel, 5 is average, 7 is much better. The best flannel is made in Portugal.

I'll keep my eyes open for the leaf design. I'm always drooling on sheet catalogs.

I also have a favorite design flannel sheet set that just wore out, it was a persian/turkish kind of design. Did make the sheets a little less soft, but you couldn't see the dog hair at all! I choose all sheet colors by their compatability with dog hair.

Another year round flannel sheet user. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them and good fluffy ones are hard to find. I've never seen an ivy pattern though, but then I don't shop the pricey stores, usually just Meijer and Target.

WE use ours year round also. I just get a set for $16 every year at Target, the quality is ok, I need to buy a nice set eventually though

Couldn't possibly use 'em yr round here but LOVE 'em from Nov to mid Feb.

I used to use flannel sheets all winter and have found nice thick sets at LL Bean, Land's End, and Kohl's but last winter I switched to fleece sheets. I'll never go back to flannel! I have two sets of fleece, one from Kohls and one from LL Bean.

WE are sort of the same way. I think we have 4 sets, of various colors and patterns in the Flannels. We have had them for Years. I believe ours came from L.L. Bean.

But, we generally only use our Flannel sheets, from about the first of November to the First week or two of May, when we go back to the regular sheets.
That's how we do it about every year. Whatever works for you, Hunnh!

I looooove our flannel sheets! We definitely don't use them in the summer, but it sure makes it nice slipping into bed in a cold bedroom in the winter!

The prices are much higher this year. Even the cheap ones at Meijer are running $30 and up for a set of full size sheets.

I am so glad to see other people admitting this. I thought we were the only ones who used them all year. I have seen more than one person saying that here though over the years. Flannel sheets are great in summer as well as winter for some of the same reasons.

Fleece and flannel…can't have too much!

Yes, Fleece is much warmer, but the dog hair works into them more than Flannel.
I have been working on a dog hair hideing quilt all day. Black and white with a black back.

NamasteMama, Threshold brand flannel sheets are on sale this week at Target for $19.99, any size. Not a lot of different patterns, not even really pretty (IMO) patterns but they are $19.99. Getting ready to put my new set in the washer. The penguin set finally wore out and had to be replaced. ( I think I had those for 10 years or more)

If only the weather would cooperate enough for them to be dried outside on the line. (sigh)

Year 'round flannel sheets here too. Love the way the fitted bottom sheet stays on the bed unlike regular cotton sheets. Years ago I'd recommend L.L. Bean's Portugal made flannel sheets. But these days they are thinner and don't last as long.
