I took 4 cats to be fixed 2 M 2 F

They are barnyard cats. One male was shot with a 22 4 months ago but lived with a drunken swagger to his back side, but can run and climb just like the other 3.

A paper they gave me when I left says this, and remember these are barnyard cats, and the shot one, I seldom can get near to unless feeding him and hes darn hungry

your pet MUST remain in comfortable room temp for 24hrs with NO extreme hot or cold temps.

Keep the incision dry for the next week. Keep your pet quiet. When I finally got home and let the cats out, they were GONE. Didn't get around me for hours afterwards.
Do NOT allow pet to lick or bite at the incision. Yeah, right.

They only charged me $60 total instead of $80 as I thought as they said one of the males was already fixed. I Figured it was the \hot one.

yep just got done with the stray cat get fixed deal myself what a pain trying to keep them in the house and still, ripped the bathroom apart, clawed me up and peeed everywhere. so no more strays for me, if they show up ,in the car for a ride they go. But mine was free just had to drive an hour each way to the vet. and they get a clip cut out of the ear so who every place they run off too will know they are fixed.

We took in a mommacat-to-be who was barely more than a kitten herself who blessed us with 4 little ones. So we took 5 cats to the vet to be fixed. They gave us the litter rate. Around here they try to give people who are trying to help decrease the cat population a break. Males were $25 and females were $35. Two males and three females including mom.

The momma cat is very affectionate and friendly and of course the kittens (now 2 years old) have never known what it's like to be feral/outside cats so they are all house kitties. Including our 10 year old queen bee oldest ds rescued as a kitten, that mean we have 6 in the house. Eventually our sons will all take one, but for now it's pretty lively around here. All super cats though.

You can get a cat neutered, but it's still not really fixed.

Oh, yes

I remember this from yrs ago...my husband & I are bringing this cat home from the vet. She was a feral cat...we get in the car and start laughing. This cat had never been in our house BUT young and silly we were. Put her in back bedroom and never heard a peep from her and she used a cat box. She soon went back outside...we had her over 22 yrs!!! Have no idea how old she really was.

I took a young female in for a spay, got home let her out and two hours later found she had pulled all her stitches out, she was such a good mouser that I took her back to the vet and it ended up with her spending three days at the vet, as the inscision was already full of dirt and such and a $500 bill. But she is still with me, and mouses like no ones business.

You got off cheaply by the standards here in eastern okla. We paid about $100 to get our pup spayed.

Im SW 35 of Tulsa. I saw some dogs there but don't know what they charged for them. $29 for cats up to 6 mos old. more for older.

There was a lot of women bringing in their cats and dawgs. I said I might have to start looking for strays so I could keep comeing back. They all laughed. Said I likely couldn't afford to do that tho.

Anything having to do with women seems to cost money lol.

Why do they call it fixing a cat, aren't you breaking their reproductive system?

Our vet has a $25 deal on Tuesdays for males called Tomcat Tuesday. I call it something similar, but inappropriate for mixed audience.

I know what you mean FBB, I took a pile of barn cats in a few months ago. They gave me those same instructions at the end of the day and I just rolled up sleeves, showed them the claw marks, and said "I won't be able to lay a hand on these cats again until they are dead." When I asked the vet "Why so cheap?", she suggested I shove them head first into a boot and DIY next time.

My brother has a pipe he puts the young toms into. Twenty seconds later they exit the other end of the pipe minus a small percentage.

I always wondered why they call it "fixing" considering what they are really doing is breaking one of the animals functions.

Bill,

I started taking the six new barn cats we have acquired to my vet for spay and neutering two at a time starting this past Tuesday and the last two will get done this coming Tuesday since Tuesday and Thursday are surgical procedure days at the vet and I only have two carrier crates.

I lucked out and got a discount of the $70 per neuter to $55 and the $110 spay was reduced to $90.

$365 for the procedures and shots sure felt better on my wallet than $460 would have.

Trap-Neuter-Return programs would be good to find for the barn cats, they get a notch taken out of an ear, and rabies shot, but its not bad and here the neuter and spay was free.

Our vet says they have to say how to take care of outside cats when they get home after neutering, but they don't expect you to really follow their advice.

One year I had six females spayed, two at a time, and have done a few since then. Sure saved a lot on cat food down the road even though we didn't get much of a price break. We are down to four now, all neutered. That's nice.
