Re-canning store bought can goods?

Is it safe to re-can store bought can goods? Thanks for your help new to homesteading today. Lots of info here love it.

Can you explain a bit?? Why would you want to?? Even if you could, there would be no benefit I could see??

Yeah, why? You will need to pressure can them, almost certainly. Thinking about the giant cans @ Costco and such?
I would just open them one at a time, make a huge dish and freeze leftovers.

You really lose the economic benefits of canning if you don't grow the veg/fruit yourself or find bulk discounts from a farmer. There's also the fact that the pre-canned stuff has been cooked once already, so cooking it again will come out a bit more mushy than the original recipe, and it may also be hard to follow the original recipe because the canned product isn't quite the same as the raw.

If you're re-canning because original cans were damaged, you might reconsider if the food is still good enough to be worth preserving.

If you're re-canning to break down bulk packs, you might consider freezing instead.

I suppose you could, where I could see it is if you used canned goods to make soup or something and wished to can the final product.
