Hawkpower. You'd have to put axles and wheels on it. You'd get a diesel reconfigured as a gaseous engine. That means the bottom end of a diesel with pistons designed for propane and a top end without a diesel injection pump.

The price will raise your eyebrows but you're getting a true prime rated setup. That means you can run it as long as the number of elapsed hours allowed between oil changes and not void the warranty. That's almost three months of continous running. They have an option for a larger oil pan that will double that.

A Generac will die long before that. In fact you will void the warranty well before that on a Generac.

I found a Craigslist deal on a 7500 watt duel fuel Honda unit. It runs on regular gas or propane. Not sure it's the best, but it runs great on regular gas. I've yet to hook it up to propane, but it is fitted out to do so.

Honda does not make a propane conversion kit, only aftermarkets, that would void the warranty. I prefer something that is designed from the factory with warranty.

..............The generator market has very few original , big name mfgers ! The one's I'm aware of are Honda , Yamaha , Champion(small) etc . What you have is thousands of smaller "Assembly" mfgers who purchase large numbers of name brand engines and attach a generic generator head and wiring controls . Gas engines fall into (5) names , Honda with (3) levels of quality , Kawasaki , Kohler , Briggs , and Chinese clones or Chonda and many others I'm not aware of .
...............If I were you I'd consider any generator using a 'Red' Honda engine because an engine problem will be covered by a Honda dealer based upon their engine warranty ! , fordy

Depends on intended use . For one that's going to have a lot of run time I agree with Darren . For a medium amount of run time a Honda or Yamaha would be good . For occasional use one of the less expensive ones would probably suffice . You might find this site interesting .
