Land for sale in Alabama

My family would like to buy between 2 and 5 acres of land, unrestricted and/or zoned for animals. We would like a few turkeys, maybe two goats, some geese and perhaps 20 chickens. We'd need easy financing; owner hold mortgage or lease/purchase. Would like to put a mobile home on the property with the ideal goal of building a home in a few years. Need it to be within an hours drive of Birmingham, preferably in St. Clair County.

an hours drive can put you as far north as Cullman County.

We're living near Jasper now and absolutely hate the place. We just got home from visiting Cullman, thanks for the recommendation. They've got the biggest flea-market ever, bought a very small dutch oven that will come in handy. We fell in love with the Tractor Supply Company. We were treated rudely by the lady at the Jim Walter Home place. Is buying a Jim Walter Home a good investment? I like the idea that we can have it fifty percent finished and do the remainder of the work ourselves.

Just remember that with Jim Walter's you get what you pay for, no warrenty if you finish it your self . And the state of Alabama is QUEER with motor vehical insurance to boot, A drunk hit my car down that way in '87 and my licence was suspended because my insurance company wasn't licenced in alabama, so step lightly, now Cullman's a nice place been there about a dz. times ,they got a Walfart DC there.

It's huge like 1.1 million sq ft I think.
I live north of addision about 10 miles in Cullman county about 20 miles from Decatur really nice area and my house is for sale but I do not think the terms would work but would love for you to take a look!

You also have Wallace State Community College in Hanceville. I dated a girl in the Stouts Mountain area west of there while I was in college and as late as 1998 when I was through there it was still quite rural.

Sure is nice to see people from my home state! I grew up in Winston County which is a little more than an hour's drive from B'ham. I've lived in Montevallo, which is only a 30 minute drive from B'ham and a very nice little college town (I'm a U of M grad).

I'm registered now and am so glad I stumbled upon this site. Thanks for all the posts. I have a wonderful job in Vestavia Hills that I love. I've managed the petstore there for 5 years and wouldn't think of leaving, yet. I have, however, resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to have to drive at least an hour, each way, every day to be able to live far enough away to enjoy the life that my family deserves. I grew up in St. Clair county and would love to move back there. I am considering Blount County and possibly would consider southern Cullman County. We just want 2-5 acres to have a goat and some chickens and enough space for our boys to play.
