Happy Thanksgiving USA!
I wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all USA friends here on Homesteading Today! I remember when I was little the trucking company my Dad drove for always gave him a turkey for Thanksgiving. It was the only time of year we had turkey. Grandma made stuffing, mashed potatoes, peas, carrots and pumpkin pie. A real treat was when we went to our Aunt and Uncle's house and watched the thanksgiving day parade on TV!. Canada's Thanksgiving is in Oct so I get to celebrate twice!
I give thanks every day to God. But at Thanksgiving time I make a list of all we have to be thankful for beginning with living in a culture where we have the right to choose how we live and the freedom to express our opinion. As a woman I am thankful I don't have to be hid under long veils and can't be executed because my husband didn't like what I cooked for dinner!. I am thankful for health and trained doctors and nurses. I am thankful for good food, clean water and air that is still breathable. I am thankful we have a home and shelter from the elements. I am thankful for family and friends and freedom to get an education; good dedicated teachers and freedom to choose a career. These are just a few of the things I can give thanks for on this Thanksgiving Day.
There are many things wrong in our society, government, crime and with the weather etc. But this day I choose this day to be thankful for the good we still have. If you have things you are thankful for feel free to express them. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
