Old Iron

For folks looking for extra income ideas...

I know a guy who has a small business at home, selling used tractor implements. He concentrates on one and two row stuff, all three point hitch.

He knocks the rust off, repairs whatever might need repairing, and puts a decent paint job on it. Because new implements are so expensive and he's pretty reasonable, he usually sells one or two pieces a week.

He doesn't fool with re-doing tractors, but he will take one on consignment.

That's not a ton of money, but it sure does help his Social Security check...

Great idea! Anything saved from the scrappers like that is a plus! Wish a guy like that was here in Alaska. I got me an old Allis-Chalmers WD, but most everyone sells new implements.

I used to do a little of that. Also rehabbed old horse drawn equipment here in the 70's and early 80's when there were big draft horse sales. Stopped when the auction moved east of the mountains and this area had been picked over pretty good. Buy it at scrap price and sort through it. I sold parts taken off for 15 years, leftovers went to scrap....James
