Moving a Doublewide

Hi all, I have a friend who is moving nearby. There is a 07 doublewide mobile home ("As is") included in the sale. It is set up with blocks, no axles and the tongues (?) are below it. She would like to sell it. Has anyone done this sort of removal? Do you think if she listed at a reasonably low price, it would be easy to sell? I mean in terms of it having to be moved. Or is the moving process a hard thing to accomplish and so would be difficult to sell? Thanks

Check yellow pages for a house mover . Around here the movers will move to free or buy it for a cheap price to get it to resale. A house mover won't need axles They will move it whole.

Call a TRAILER MOVER !

A trailer move is pretty standard and way cheeper than moving a house. check with a few places and then include that info when you try to sell it. it should sell without a lot of hassel and for just a little less than a used trailer at a dealer.

Never done it myself. Most people buying a used one learn, or already know, that they're probably going to be responsible for arranging for and covering the cost of transport. And, all the other necessary things involved with it are usually included in that price. But, that would be on the buyer to check out. Unless the sales contract includes the seller being responsible for moving the home. As far as price in relation to the extra cost -to a buyer- of moving it, that's a matter of what the market will bear. But, a lower price is one of the draws of buying used. So, even with the cost of moving it, they figure they're still ahead of the game.

I've talked to people who have sold them and also some who bought used though, also some mobile home movers. Most of the sellers sold the home as is. It was in the agreement that the buyer would be responsible for hiring a company to dismantle and move it off the property. Usually the job includes taking it apart and prepping it for transport (wrapping the open side in plastic), packing up the outside AC unit, disconnecting utilities, and gathering the blocks used for piers. The set up at the buyer's end is up to them.

Yep, trailer mover. Permits for the wide load are commonly required and there can be other parts of the process that they know but you won't. Prices on used homes vary. There are some entrepreneurs that buy up used ones and build trailer parks one by one, renting out or reselling them. A couple calls to dealers should help in setting a price.

Thanks everyone sounds do-able. None of us have any experience in this and didn't know how to proceed. Now we have some ideas. Very grateful for all the help.

Sell it cheap - find out how much it would cost to move, then sell it discounting the appx. cost of the move. Does it need to be disconnected from the septic (if have one?) Lots of things involved in moving a double wide.

If the buyer wants it, let them take responsibility for the move. Make sure your friend has an "it's gotta be out of here by date"!!

Yeah she's going to sell it cheap considering it has to be moved and it is a bit in need of repairs. Thanks for all the advice.

Its another reason not to buy a trailer house, no resale value and you may have to pay to have them removed from your property

Trailers are the staple of lower income or temporary housing. There should be no problem selling it or having it moved. And she might make a decent amount of money out of it!

Many years ago, I lived in one. Bought it, lived in it until I could pay for land, and then moved it out to the homestead so Hubby#1 could build us a house. He was a carpenter. It was a great way to do it...

Being a 2007, it should sell well.
