arctic proof boots?
i'm looking for some really good quality boots. for keeping dry and warm in cold weather. want something that will last a very long time and that is comfortable. looking for being able to wear outside when we don't know how deep, wet, or mucky it will be until we get there.
anybody up in Canada, Alaska or Northern US got any suggestions for brands/models to look into?
Thanks a bunch guys.

Not a brand nor model suggestion but I'd suggest looking at the boots in the male section. Growing up in the far north I fairly quickly found out that the boy's section is sturdier and warmer.

I buy boots for my husband made of a material called Neopreme. They were made for fishermen who go out on the ocean and need a boot that is light weight, durable but warm when lobster fishing in the winter. My husband loves them for the same reason and they last for years.

For seriously cold weather...Cabelas Predator Extremes. I'm an ice fisherman so my feet sit literally on ice for sometimes 12 hours a day in . My feet have never even come close to being cold. They are big and bulky, but fairly lightweight and very durable. I'm on my 14th year on my Predators with no sign of wearing out. I talked my buddy into buying a pair 4 years ago and he loves them. My dad is on his 11th year of his....loves them.

Bunny boots. Not pretty come in back or white used but they are the best. Spend can be 100 dollars. I got lucky and my family was gifted 3 pair.

Win. Bunny boots ( VB boots) will keep your feet warm no matter what. They've been tested to -60 and we're still good. Would have been even better if I'd had on socks, but those don't come out until -65.

Mickey Mouse boots that the army uses. Can get them at Army Navy stores or through Sportsman's guide catalog or web site. You feet will stay really warm and dry. have had our boots for probably 20 years now.

Bunny boots are very warm as long as they are made by BATA. Not all Mickey boots are created equal. However, they are very heavy. I own a pair, used them and liked them before I got my Predator Extremes. Now I keep them as a backup as they collect dust.

I would suggest bunny boots too.. I used to have a pair and loved them. Always dry feet, and always very warm... When you need the best, turn to the military and their gear.. you never can lose that way.. Yep, they may not be pretty, and they may not be the lightest, but you won't find anything more rugged and better protecting.

I like sorel boots and again, they aren't cheap but will keep your feet warm.
Something you do need to remember when you buy cold rated winter boots is make sure you have a bit of loft (too tight or too roomy will make them cold) and your feet get too warm in your boots, they'll eventually get cold.

Muck works fairly well IF you can get ones with deep tread. Otherwise you wont have solid footing on ice.

bunny boots 100%. We wear them up here because when its -50 below and your many, many miles from anything your feet -MUST- to stay warm and dry. Plus you cant beat the price compared to other arctic boots.

I live in BC and temperatures here get down past -40C (same temp as F once it hits -40).
Sorels, hands down. They even make "pretty" winter boots, which I have never been able to find before.
http://amzn.to/1DC5G47 My niece gave me a tip; she needed Sorel's, but women's boots were $150 here on sale in town. She bought the same boot, but in the biggest boy's size they had. Fit great and she saved $60!
Sorel's will keep your feet nice and warm; you need really good winter boots if you spend more than 3 minutes outdoors in the dead of winter.

How do you keep your feet dry in Bunny Boots. ? I always wind up in my own private puddles of sweat.

See a doctor for your issue. I have worn them from 6am to 8 pm in a mix of out doors in nasty weather then commuting in for coffee and soup.
I have never had them punctured as other boots have when trampling thru the woods with sharp frozen branches on the ground. These are old boots with a baffle plug. The plug is open for air plane rides.

Change from a synthetic sock to something with a natural fiber and even better if you know a knitter than can make you something with no synthetics in them at all. My son has the same problem and I can make him socks from 100% natural fibers (alpaca, merino, bamboo, etc) and it resolved the problem immediately.
