Well hello people, I've done a couple of posts but my first question comming up.
Myself and my husband have just bought 2.4 acres in Northern Denmark. now that's zone 7 according to the maps, normal minimum in about january is about 23 but I have seen it hit 5, we can expect maybe 2 weeks of snowcover. Summer temps hover around 77 not seen it over 90. summer is short with long days.
Right we have two smallish barns, a small greenhouse and a old farmhouse. heating is wood, and while there's double glazing there is no other insulation. brrrr.
I've found many many fruit bushes and some trees hiding in the weeds that used to be a garden. To give you an idea what the garden looks like, the plants in the bottom of this picture are growing on the gravel of the drive.
and that door in the corner.. is the front door!

The land is wet (old unkept ditches) and slopes downwards away from the house, there is a spring/seep in one corner that then "flows" about 300ft across the bottom of the field and out.
We intend to run 3 or 4 pigs on the dryer areas and possible 3-4 goats. with some chickens and possibly waterfoul. No interest in cows as his dad keeps them so we can swap pork for beef rather than having to use all the land on one cow!
So my questions are, what can I do to make that seep a asset rather than a pain in the butt. An has anyone got any better ideas as to animals? I would like to keep bought feed to a minimum, however we have no machinery and have no intention of getting any either, so everything will be hand done.
