That would probably work one at a time with a lot of cranking but here is how I shell corn.

Watch those kids next to that spinning flywheel. Easy for kids that age to distract themselves and not think.

I was doing similar at that age, so don't mean nothing but just be careful.

I shelled a lot of corn with the MM D corn sheller here on the farm, 1-2000 bu out of the crib a year.

The Gleaner combine shells a lot more every year for me.

Our hand crank sheller sorta like yours is used for husking black walnuts.

I would like a small hand crank single ear sheller as in the original ad for shelling a few test ears to check moisture.

I have one in better shape then that and I wouldn't let mine go for that price. They work very well and have shelled a lot of corn with mine.

With that very engine powering it I put two bushel baskets full of ear corn through that sheller in one minute.
If I put a real spring in the governor and got the engine up to it's rated 500 RPM then I wouldn't have had to stop feeding it twice during that minute to let the engine catch back up.
It is a two hole sheller.
I have two like that one and a slightly newer wooden two hole sheller.
Then I also have the wooden hand cranked one hole sheller.
I have at least three and probably four small cast iron ones to mount on a wooden box.

I have four (three different types) of hand shellers. You hold them in your hand and use them to shell the corn

Them are country kids.
They know enough not to touch hot things or spinning things.
I said, "We have some great help feeding the corn."
The two close ones are my nephew's daughters.
The other gal is from a display down farther.
That gal was a lot of fun that year.
Just a little hyperactive.
The next year she was just a shell of herself on drugs.
It was like she was in a daze.
Those gals are bigger now and there is a new sister the size of the smaller one. That sweet gal last year all by herself ran two bushels through and she was just so cute doing it with her left hand up on the side of the sheller and her right hand picking up one ear at a time and dropping it in.
Yes for that one I was right there all the time. She didn't have an older sister there to keep her safe. Oh how I wish I had a video of her feeding the sheller.

Uncle Milt farmed all his life, and he still lost the tip of a finger. Its so easy to stick your hand down the hole when one wont keep on going and give it a nudge. Ive done it, and I imagine every kid who was near one has done it.

Ah, I see it now. It IS a gem. U oughta restore it to show it. I wonder why they quit making the handles on both ends for them. Mine weighs a ton.

I bought my McD at a farm auction when I was around 21. I had gone to the sale in my 1946 Chevy pk. It had rained the day before, and the ground was still damp. It sat in the corn crib. I was getting ready to leave along with my uncle milt, and a neighbor. The corn crib say down a slope around 100ft from where we were at. Somebody asked another if they had bought anything. I said I had bought the sheller, and was going to load it and head home. Uncle Milt said Id better wait and come back for it. I said (If that pk cant get down there and get it and get back, ill leave it there. I went down to it. I was amazed how heavy it was. I guess cause of all that weight in the back the ole chevy just waltzed right out.
I used my Cub pulley on mine and my boy and his wife helped me shell a bunch of corn years ago.
