Any you hear about this.

I was in a store last evening buying mower sections, at the checkout I saw boxes of matches. Bent down to get a couple when I saw they were the strike on box kind. I asked if they had the strike anywhere kind, and she said no, that they had outlawed them. Starting too many fires.
Anybody hear of this??

They have increased hazmat fees when shipping so most places won't stock them. I still see them in the cigar shop here at home.

I haven't been able to find them for years. I think I still have a box or 2 stashed away but like the person on the blog, the matches are probably no longer any good.

I like the looks of the Ohio Blue Tip matches PB, but there strike on box. Diamond always made good matches.

Please don't get the two kinds mixed up. Strike on Box, and Strike Anywhere, are two different kinds, with different chemical makeups.

Seems like reason those matches aren't popular anymore is that the lighters are much better.

Yeah, if I am going to light a cigar while sitting around the campfire, a lighter is just fine.

But, if I cannot find primers, I can at least use the strike anywhere part of the match head to re-pack spent primers.

Far from ideal, but can work in a pinch! (no pun intended)
